Design of an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)

Project Overview

Automated Storage and retrieval System is known as ASRS which is controlled by computer software and mechanical system. ASRS can be shown in the complete operation system where the system moves in very narrow places and in high quality orders. The system introduces many advantages in the production, storage, distribution, and customer services. ASRS proved its efficient work in world organizations and in world libraries using the technology of robotics. In this project will design, build and test prototype ASRS that can be used to facilitate the storing and retrieval of items. A driving mechanism with 2 to 3 degrees of freedom will be firstly designed and tested in SolidWorks. This will then be built and equipped with drivers and control system to provide automation.

Project Objectives

There are three objectives in our project:
  • Design and build a prototype ASRS new design that can be used in libraries and in stores
  • To design new robotic tasks that can introduce more tasks in simple operations
  • To depend on self – operation using high quality of robotic programs in low cost
