PMU hosted a visit from KFUPM students

KFUPM students were received by the of Division of Students Affairs represented by Mr. Subah Al-Tayyar, Admission Office Manager last Tuesday October 27, 2009. During the visit, the KFUPM students toured the male campus. The tour included stops in the Learning Resources Center, the Colleges of Business, Engineering and Information Technology, and the PMU Auditorium. The highlight of the tour was the successful formal presentation in the male lecture hall about PMU’s academic programs, technology and its administration system. Before leaving the PMU campus, a group photo was taken and souvenir gifts were handed to the visitors by members of the PMU Student Council (http://www.kfupm.edu.sa).

On October 14, 2009, a delegation from Saudi Aramco Industrial Security Division visited Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) to learn about PMU’s student-centered learning methodologies and about the integration of state-of-the-art information technologies to PMU’s modern educational environment. The Saudi Aramco delegation was composed of 15 administrators and trainers, and was led by Mr. Haitham Al Balawi, SSS & ID Administrator and Mr. Jamal I. Bubshait, Supervisor. The program was coordinated by Mr. Sami Al Binali and Mr. Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, both Professional Development/Training Advisors at Aramco. The PMU team was led by Dr. Nassar Shaikh, PMU Vice Rector of Academic Affairs and Dr. Desmond Rice, Director of Learning Resource Center who were joined by several senior educators.

HRH Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, Acting Governor of Riyadh, honored PMU Rector, Dr. Issa Bin Hassan Al Ansari during a three-day conference titled "The Youth & Us…a Partnership", held in Riyadh under the patronage of HRH Prince Selman Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh.

The Minister of State, Dr. Saud Bin Saeed Al Mothami visited PMU campus and met with the Rector Dr. Issa Bin Hassan Al Ansari. Dr. Al Ansari toured PMU buildings with Minister Al Mothami who communicated his positive thoughts about PMU's promising academic programs, modern technologies and academic diversity.

PMU hosted the second annual KSAALT Conference on Thursday May 7, 2009 in the main auditorium. The event met great success thanks to the university's support and the massive participation of language teachers from various areas of the Kingdom.

A delegation from Warwick University visited PMU on May 13, 2009 to discuss ways of cooperation between both institutions and to learn about PMU academic programs and educational process.

PMU Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Omar El Moussa gave a presentation about the role campus life in universities at the NASPA Conference in Dubai on April 29, 2009.

Under the sponsorship of the Division of Student Affairs, the Campus Life Department hosted a Red Bull Skating Street Heroes Competition on May 5, 2009. Prizes were disseminated to the first and second winners by professional judges who were on board.

Under the sponsorship of the Division of Student affairs, the Health and Counseling team organized a non-smoking prevention and obesity day in the male campus on April 22, 2009.

The Health and Counseling team at PMU organized also a Blood Drive on May 4, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the male campus. The campaign was very successful, 84 male donors! Similar event in the female campus will be announced soon.

PMU Annual Speech Contest Competition was held in the PMU Auditorium on May 12, 2009 for the female and on May 13 for the male. The female winners were Fariha Ahssan from Dhahran Academy (First Place), Bushra Mustaq Ahmed from Bangladesh International School (Second), and Shahad Mseilhi from Salam School (Third). The male winners are Alaa Sami Abdrabu from Jubail Industrial College (First), Saad Mohammed Khan from the Bangladesh International School (Second), and Majed Al-Khulify from Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (Third).
