SPEECH CONTEST

Under the guidance of the Student Affairs, the Department of Campus Life and Department of Health & Counseling and in collaboration with the Department of Humanities organized the PMU Speech Contest for their students. There were initially six contestants but three dropped.

Speakers S.M. Imran Hossain, Karam Abdullah Abu Sahada, and Ahmad Alhijab delivered five to seven-minute presentation on the topic “The World Cup in Qatar, Positives & Negatives”, and were judged on content, organization, and delivery.

The panel of judges consisted of Dr. Bruce Wells, Dr. William Trotter, and Mr. Simon N. Meade-Palmer. After the presentations were finished, the judges took approximately ten minutes to make their deliberations for the winner. The winner of the Speech Contest was S. M. Imran Hossain and was given some valuable prizes. The judges and the audience congratulated him for his winning presentation.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 – The PMU female students had their Speech Competition in the Lecture Hall and the contestants spoke very well in the various topics “Endangered Animals, Body Language, Green Tea, Georgia, Jane Austen, Japanese Calligrahpy, and Water Charity”. All spectators who attended the competition were highly impressed with the quality and content of each speech.

There were six contestants from the Department of Core Curriculum and there was a panel of judges to evaluate them and rendered their decisions based on certain speech presentation criteria.

First place winner is Ms. Al Shayma Al-Refaiy for the topic of Japanese Calligraphy.

Second place winner is Ms. Sara Al Sughaiyer for topic of Water Charity.

Certificates and trophies were given to the contestants, the panel of judges, and the instructors for their great effort and truly job well done.
