Purpose and Functions: The committee is responsible for developing Research enhancement programs and proposals, including research support, resources and needed partnerships. The committee receives and evaluates grant proposals and recommends grant awards from funds available. The Committee looks into summer research contracts and adjunct research collaborations.
The Committee shall:
- Develop the Research Strategic Plan
- Help promote research activities with local and international businesses and industries
- Promote the transfer of technologies
- Promote Intellectual Property
- Support patenting efforts
- Develop policies for endowed chairs
Meetings: During each regular semester, the committee shall hold at least two formal documented meetings, in two different months. Recommendations from the REC are channeled to the University Council.
Pathway for Recommendations and Decisions: The RIC refers recommendations to the VPAA who makes final decisions in his span of authorities. In matters needing the University Council’s approval or the President’s approval, items are referred accordingly to the relevant university authority for final decision.
