Project Overview

Energy is one of the major topics that almost all the world was concerned with especially during the last 20 years. However, for ultimate importance of energy, it is expected that the world will keep in need of more innovation in most energy fields across upcoming decades. Accordingly, it is normal that much work is being done now to find new tools to either generate or save up energy. As a matter of fact, Saudi Arabia is one of those countries that have great concerns in energy. In addition to its long history as a major world energy generator and producer, it urgently needs to find new tools for new resources of energy to face the growing demands of energy in the future.
As a result, in Prince Mohammad University, Department of Electrical Engineering, our team was much interested to focus on solar energy as an alternative energy resource. As a result, the team worked on a project to design a new Integrated AC Photovoltaic. It is believed that it will be able to produce and save up a deal of energy with an output of 220V (rms), 60 Hz
AC. however, this project was more integrated as design not only cover inverters, but it extends to electronic circuits, components and battery storage. Based on principles of PV module, this project also aims at finding the proper size, the principle of battery type, and the design of inverter aiming at achieving two objectives of reducing costs and high performance.


Project Objectives

  1. Selecting the proper size and type for the solar panels, converter, and inverter that will result in maximum performance and cost-efficiency.
  2. Integrating all the components in one module.
  3. Developing a smart MPPT (Maximum power point tracking) to maximize the output power.
