Optimal Sinusoidal with Ripple Battery Charging System

Project Overview

The demand for portable products is showing exponential growth. Growth in volume has made remarkable demand for greater features and functions. The overall success of the product will not only rely on its features and functions but also will depend on how long the battery can be functional before it runs out of power. Therefore, the project has been selected to make a primary enhancement in the batter charging efficiency in terms of the average life expectancy of the battery. This project aims at designing an optimal battery charging system that is based on the sinusoidal-with-ripple charging technique in addition to an algorithm which tracks the optimal charging frequency.

Project Objectives

  1. Optimize the charging rate of the battery in a way that works best with battery chemistry.
  2. Accelerate the charging process.
  3. Provide fast charging by avoiding a multiscale problem such as:
    1. The high currents which cause power losses.
    2. Overheat associated with high current flow.
