Secure Door Entry Using Face Recognition and Thermal Screening

Project Overview

COVID-19 which is known as coronavirus is still spreading in our community. In matter of fact, coronavirus is spreading in all over the world. COVID-19 is one of the most dangerous virus people have ever faced, because it can be transmitted from person to another very easily. This project aims to build a system which can identify whether a person is able to enter a certain place or building based on his / her face and body temperature. Thermalimaging cameras are capable of measuring human body temperature with high precision in real time and trigger an alarm if a person with a high body temperature. Using the thermal imaging cameras might help to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus, because high body temperature is one of the symptoms of coronavirus. As for the face recognition system is a technology that used to match a human face from a digital image or a video frame against a database of faces.

Project Objectives

  1. To measure the body temperature of all working people in the premises.
  2. To record the body temperature of individual entering the premises day to day.
  3. To warn if body temperature is beyond the range and restrict the entry to the premises.
  4. To implement smart door lock.
  5. To design and develop a prototype model for this functionality.
  6. Reassuring visitors and Improving Public Perception
