Aptis Placement Test

Aptis is an English language test service provided by British Council which is currently used by PMU to accurately determine English language levels for students.

Once the candidates meet the admission’s general requirements, they will be scheduled to take Aptis test (visit Aptis webpage) (https://www.britishcouncil.org/exam/aptis) for English level proficiency, based on which they will be admitted to their corresponding level.

The duration of the placement test is approximately 4 hours. Candidates are highly encouraged to visit the below links to explore the Aptis before sitting for the test.

They may also refer to the Aptis Candidate Guide (Click here). Appendix 3.3 (Aptis Candidate Guide) Based on candidates overall and writing scores, they will be placed on one of the following levels:

Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced

If a candidate feels that he/she is eligible for direct entry into the Core Program, he / she will be required to take the IELTS through the PMU Testing Center or any other authorized testing center (Apply for IELTS).

*PMU offers preparation classes for IELTS through the Continuing Education department. The students can also sit for IELTS test in PMU Testing Center

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

Applicants can bypass the English courses in the Preparatory Program or alternatively might be admitted to different level in the Preparatory Program if the candidate provides a valid  IELTS  certificate (Academic version) (Apply for IELTS) and successfully meets one of the below requirements of the categories below:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT

Applicants can bypass the English courses in the Preparatory Program or alternatively might be admitted to different level in the Preparatory Program if the candidate provides a valid TOEFL iBT score report and successfully meets one of the below minimum requirements of the categories below:
