- Effective communication is the process of exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the message is received and understood with clarity and purpose. By learning to use the skills effectively, the students will be able to communicate effectively and both the sender and the receiver will feel satisfied and well-understood.
- Mental Health Support includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
- Academic supports are programs and strategies that are used to increase the academic achievement of students, particularly for students who may be at risk of diminished academic achievement. A wide variety of strategies have been developed to provide extra support to students in their academic journey here at PMU.
- Special need is a clinical diagnostic and can range from students with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia, Blindness, Deafness, and ADHD. Cleft lips and missing limbs are also included. The term is also described as, for individuals who need help and support for any kind of disabilities i.e. medical, mental, or psychological.
- Study Skills or study strategies are approaches applied to learning. Study skills are an array of skills that tackle the process of organizing and taking in new information, retaining information, or dealing with assessments. Such as managing your time, taking notes, creating a mind map, lecturing yourself, teaching others, making a mnemonic device, and reinforcing and breaking up your study time.
- Stress management offers a range of strategies to help students better deal with stress and difficulty (adversity) in life. Managing stress can help students lead a more balanced, healthier life. Stress is an automatic physical, mental, and emotional response to challenging events, students face in a university environment. Anger management’s goal is to reduce both emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes. Students can get rid of, or avoid, the things that enrage them and can learn to control reactions by sharing.
