The trip to Hofuf was an outstanding success. We rolled out of town on a PMU bus early on Thursday morning, 11 March, and after one and half hours hopped from the bus straight onto camels. Anne Harbut proved to be something of a rodeo camel girl which had the local Sudanese cameleers in stitches. We all had our photos taken beside a 3 million Riyal ship of the desert and then sampled fresh frothy camel milk. After 9 days I can confirm that it is truly a wonderful tonic for the bowels. Lunch in a food hall shortly after was followed by a visit to a local bakery (aniseed flavored bread). Our last stop was the Hofuf caves. Unable to lose anyone we headed for home.
