SABIC and Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University (PMU) in the eastern region signed an agreement under which the University will conduct an intensive three-month preparatory program for SABIC students, who will be sent on scholarship to the United States early 2012. These students represent the seventh batch of SABIC Foreign Scholarship Program, which was launched in 2005.
The signing ceremony was held on August 23 at PMU headquarters in Al-Khobar, in the presence of Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC Executive Vice President, Human Resources, and Dr. Issa Al-Ansari, PMU Rector. Al-Benyan and the accompanying delegation received a detailed briefing about the university and its advanced educational facilities.
Al-Benyan pointed out that this program is part of a thoughtful process for preparing SABIC’s future leaders and an excellent example of SABIC’s ongoing commitment to power the ambitions of students across the world. He reiterated the rigor of SABIC’s selection process under this program, and the full preparation of the students before they proceed to live among other communities, which is seen as one of the most important elements of the SABIC Scholarship Program.
For his part, Dr. Issa Al-Ansari assured PMU professionalism in harnessing material and human resources potentials to provide development services using the best and latest teaching aids. The training program, which PMU has designed and implemented according to the needs of SABIC Education Programs Management, aims to provide the students with basic skills. They include English language skills and other such necessities, as well as preparing them to understand Western culture and collaborate. They are also briefed on how to engage with American society and go about their daily life with confidence to make it easier for them to successfully complete their studies in the US.
