This policy governs the graduation process from application, to audit, clearance participation in the commencement exercises.

  1. Graduation Application

Normally, the university confers degrees at the end of the spring semester. Candidates for degrees file an “Application for Graduation” form in the Office of the Registrar during the registration period of the last expected term of study. Only after an application for graduation has been filed can the Office of the Registrar begin processing the necessary information for final certification for graduation. Students who fail to complete all degree requirements by the end of the term for which they apply to graduate need not reapply for graduation. Their previous application will be automatically forwarded to the following semester.
  2. Degree Audit

Upon receiving the student's graduation application, the Office of the Registrar reviews the application and carries out a degree audit reviewing degree requirements, and grades for audit purposes. The list of students applying for graduation and who are expected to graduate is sent with the audit sheets and academic records to the concerned dean for review and verification. This will be provided no later than the end of the fourth week of classes. The college dean provides a verified list of students who are expected to qualify for graduation at the end of the semester.  The Registrar's Office then submits a draft recommendation to the university council listing the students expected to graduate at the end of each semester.
  3. Graduation List

Once the end of the semester process is finalized, the Registrar's Office thoroughly reviews all student records to ensure that all graduation requirements are satisfied.  The Registrar’s Office submits a draft recommendation to the academic departments listing the students who have satisfied all graduation requirements along with copies of ''Graduation Audit Sheet'' and academic record of each student. After verification and approval, the dean forwards the final list to the Registrar's Office where compilation of the final list of university graduates' who have satisfied all graduation requirements is finalized to be sent to the university council for final approval.
The Registrar's Office updates the student graduation status on Banner then announces the list of the students who have satisfied all graduation requirements. The Registrar also notifies all the concerned departments at PMU namely Academic departments, Alumni Relations, Accounting, Campus Life and Student Services.
  4. Graduation Clearance

Graduate student should obtain a clearance form from the Registrar's Office to be filled and processed through clearance from departments such as Accounting, Campus Life, Library, Bookstore, Security, Medical Centre,  Academic Major Department, Financial Aid, IT, Student Housing and Services. Finally the student should return the form back to the Registrar's Office for verification and final Clearance through the Dean of Enrollment & Registration.
  5. Participation in the Commencement Exercises

Only students who have successfully completed degree requirements and have no “holds” on their records by the end of the term for which they have applied to graduate are certified for conferral of a degree. In witness of the degree conferred, the permanent record of the graduate is appropriately noted with a statement and date of graduation before his or her diplomas is released.
Only degree candidates whose academic records indicate that they satisfy degree requirements and have no financial transcript holds are permitted to participate in commencement ceremonies.
  6. Graduation Honors

The university grants Latin honors at graduation. To be eligible for graduation honors, students must have completed at least 60 credits required for their degree in residence at PMU and have achieved the requisite GPA. These are First Honors: Summa Cum Laude:  GPA 3.90 and above; Second Honors: Magna Cum Laude: GPA 3.70-3.89; Third Honors: Cum Laude: GPA 3.50-3.69.
