Although a student’s life can be exciting, it can also bring pressures and be stressful at times. For this reason, the Department of Health Care and Counseling (Student Affairs Division) organized and presented a workshop entitled How to be a successful Student at Prince Mohammad University presented by Dr. Muhammad Waqar Ashraf . Is hard work on its own sufficient for university success? The short answer is NO. That was what Dr. Ashraf highlighted in his lecture. He claimed that as a Chair he often speaks to students about the ingredients for academic success. Why does he have that discussion on a daily basis? The reason is simple, because he meets with many students who have dismal grades. Study skill techniques and time management subjects were discussed in the workshop. The Workshop was very important from the Students’ perspective in order for them to understand several issues with regards to study skill techniques. The majority of the group in the workshop was Preparatory and core students. At the end of the workshop many Students raised concerns on different academic issues such as time management and reading skills and study examination techniques.

The students seemed very interested and found the workshop to be very effective. Indeed, the majority of them gave positive feedback on the workshop and the desire for more workshops to be arranged in order for Preparatory and Core Students to benefit from their studies. Issues such as utilizing resources, punctuality, organization and participation were some of the 20 things to succeed which were discussed in the second half of the workshop.
